American artist Brent Watanabe’s short animated film features a sequence of animals possessed by a human spirit. It thus corresponds with a rich cultural history of fables starring personified animals, which usually convey a moral pertaining to a wide range of subjects. Like many folk tales, Watanabe’s work employs humor to capture the viewer’s attention and activate collective imagination. In this case, however, the monologues of the eccentric characters do not end with the expected moral.
