Other than one full-length movie (screened separately), the members of the Belgian-Congolese collective Faire Part create very short works through various collaborations between group members. They are all centered on Congo’s capital, Kinshasa, attempting to present the city through local eyes. The collective members strive to create a cinematic language combining the gazes of the conquerors and of the conquered, who still suffer from Western exploitation. The program features, among other works, the group’s first film, Échangeur (33 min), in which local children imagine the city’s colonial past, whose repercussions they experience in their daily lives.
