Forecast is a Berlin-based platform dedicated to facilitating, mentoring, and promoting trailblazing creative practices and audacious artistic practitioners since its inception in 2014. Forecast’s international mentoring program that offers artists and creative thinkers from anywhere in the world the chance to work with accomplished mentors toward bringing their projects to fruition. Forecast’s annual Festival in Berlin transcends neatly defined disciplines and genres to support and provide insight into creative production processes, and carve out space for the questions on the minds of the next generation of trailblazers.
At Artport, Forecast’s initiator and artistic director Freo Majer, and executive editor Hili Perlson will introduce the mentoring program and methodology, the generative potential of risk-taking, and how responding to the questions and challenges met across over a decade of activity help shape the program continuously.
Freo Majer is the founder and artistic director of Forecast. Trained as an opera director, Majer looks back at a career as a director and producer in European theaters, opera houses, and at festivals, including at Mainz State Theater, Lucerne Theater, Bremen Theater, and the international festival “Theater der Welt.” Driven by his own experience, and recognizing a gap in the type of support available to cultural works, he changed paths and founded Forecast in 2014.
Hili Perlson is the Executive Editor and member of the leading team of Forecast. She is also an independent writer, editor, and critic with bylines in international art magazines and newspapers including Artforum, The Art Newspaper, The Financial Times, Frieze, Haaretz, Vogue, Wallpaper*, STIR, Die Welt and Taz, among other publications and artist’s catalogues. She served as the Europe Editor of Artnet News and the Deputy Editor of Sleek Magazine.
