Artist Talk

Elianna Renner in conversation with Dr. Shani Agron

Swiss artist Elianna Renner and Dr. Shani Agron (Weizmann Institute) will meet for a conversation where art and science intersect—exploring the political and emotional power of tears.

Dr. Agron’s research reveals a surprising finding: chemical compounds in female tears may reduce male aggression. This raises sharp questions about the medical blind spot surrounding male emotions and violence.
While the female body has long been subject to strict medical regulation—through interventions like the birth control pill—anger, sadism, and male dominance are still seen as “natural” and remain largely untreated.

Renner brings these findings into the public sphere, asking: Can a tear—a symbol of vulnerability—become a tool for change? And what might a true collaboration between art and science look like—one focused on prevention, visibility, and new forms of social protection?

The talk will be held in English and moderated by Vardit Gross.
