Roy Menachem Markovich

Roy Menachem Markovich (b. 1979), lives and works in Tel Aviv-Jaffa. He is a graduate of HaMidrasha School of Art, Beit Berl College, Israel. Graduated with excellence, 2007.

Markovich is a video artist and a sculptor. In his works, he uses near at hand materials to create DIY cinematic sets and installations that examine various notions of locality. His playful mock up sculptures and semi-realistic cinematography reveal the “backstage” of things and ranges from nonsense sculpturous humoresques to profound cultural criticism.

His works have been shown in numerous solo, group exhibitions and festivals around the world, at venues such as the Tate Modern – London, MACBA – Barcelona, Redcat – Los Angeles, Jewish Museum for Contemporary Art, San Francisco, MeetFactory in Prague, CCA -Tel Aviv, Torrance art Museum – Los Angeles, Tel aviv Museum of art, and more. He was awarded the ‘Senior Video Artist prize’ by the Israeli ministry of culture in 2019, The Advancement Art Award by Kunst Zurich Art fair in 2013 ( represented by Esther Eppstein), and was supported by the Pais Support Scholarship, the Rabinovich Foundation for the arts, `Yotzrim` Foundation and Sharett Fund Scholarship.
